Four Thunder football players earn All-Region honors from D3Football.com; Andy Studebaker is named North Region Defensive Player of the Year

Wheaton, Ill. – Four members of the Thunder football team have been recognized as All-North Region performers by D3Football.com, including three First Team All-Region selections. Juniors Andy Studebaker and Geoff Rowson join sophomore Pete Ittersagen on the First Team, while senior Chaz Black was a Second Team selection. Wheaton finished the season with a 10-2 record, a CCIW Championship and the program's fourth NCAA Division III Playoff appearance in five years.

Studebaker was selected as a First Team All-North Region selection at defensive end and was also tabbed as the North Region Defensive Player of the Year. Studebaker led the CCIW with 17-1/2 (-142 yards) quarterback sacks this season and was also the league leader in tackles for lost yardage with 25-1/2 (-161 yards). The CCIW “Defensive Player of the Year”, Studebaker tied the school record for sacks in a single season. The junior's 17-1/2 sacks are the most of any player at any NCAA level this year. He tallied 44 total tackles this season, with 28 solo stops. Studebaker was a Second Team All-North Region pick by D3Football.com last year.

Geoff Rowson was a First Team All-Region honoree at guard. The two-time All-CCIW selection was a key member of the Thunder offensive line that led the CCIW in total offense with 5,063 yards, averaging 421.9 yards per game. Rowson and the Thunder offensive line allowed just 11 sacks on 331 passing attempts, with 2,808 passing yards and 2,255 rushing yards.

Pete Ittersagen was tabbed as a First Team All-Region selection at cornerback. The two-time First Team All-CCIW pick led the Thunder with four interceptions (-59 yards) and a team-best 11 pass deflections this season. He was third on the team with 60 total tackles and recorded a team-best 45 solo tackles. Ittersagen reached the end zone twice this season with an interception returned for a touchdown against Washington University (Mo.) and a punt returned 79 yards for a touchdown against the College of Mount St. Joseph in the NCAA Division III Playoffs' First Round. Ittersagen also returned 10 punts this season, averaging 18.9 yards per return.

Chaz Black was a Second Team All-North Region pick at running back. Black led the CCIW in rushing this season with 1,116 yards on 214 carries, with nine touchdowns. The Thunder tailback has recorded the fourth-highest single-season rushing total in school history, and in the process became the seventh Wheaton player to rush for more than 1,000 yards. The senior averaged 5.2 yards per carry this season and recorded an average of 111.6 rushing yards per game.
